Under the irradiation of light, the photocatalyst will produce a photo-catalytic reaction similar to photosynthesis, producing free hydroxyl and active oxygen with strong oxidation capacity, having a strong photo-oxidation-reduction function, can oxidize and decompose various organic compounds and some inorganic substances, can destroy bacterial cell membranes and solidify virus proteins, can kill bacteria and decompose organic pollutants, and can decompose organic pollutants into pollution-free water ( H2O ) and carbon dioxide ( CO2 ), thus having a strong sterilization, deodorization, mildew prevention, antifouling, self-cleaning and air purification function.
Photocatalyst is characterized by the use of oxygen molecules and water molecules in the air to convert the contacted organic matter into carbon dioxide and water, which can not change itself but can promote chemical reaction. In theory, it has a very long validity period and low maintenance cost. At the same time, titanium dioxide itself is non-toxic and harmless, and has been widely used in various fields such as food, medicine and cosmetics.
